A lovely 16 year old!
Matthew McConaughey celebrated his son Levi’s 16th birthday, imparting words of wisdom on his special day with a heartwarming post.
photograph To Instagram The 54-year-old Oscar-winning actor posted a montage of photos on Sunday of himself, his wife Camila Alves, and their birthday boy.
“Okay, Levi, you’re about to reach that age. You’ll soon be on your own,” the “Dallas Buyers Club” actor said in a voice-over.
“I know your mother and I did the best we could, but you can’t rely on us as a safety net forever in this wonderful wild world.”
McConaughey, who has been married to Alves since 2012, offered some fatherly advice to his two eldest sons.
“Just go out and have fun. Be aware of your surroundings. Be yourself. Know when to say yes, when to say no, when to say maybe,” he said. “Find the good in others, but know that not everyone else is always paying attention.”
“Take it easy and enjoy the journey,” the Interstellar actor added in the caption, concluding the sweet post.
McConaughey and Alves welcomed Levi on July 7, 2008. The couple also have two younger children, 14-year-old daughter Vida and 11-year-old son Livingston.
On Levi’s 15th birthday, the actor introduced his son to the world of social media.
“Happy Birthday Levi Alves McConaughey,” his father said in a joint Instagram post with Alves last year.
“Can you believe it?” she said, turning to her husband. “And he’s 15,” she replied, before adding, “Hey, your mom’s a little nervous today. One of the gifts we’re going to give you is, well, today we’re going to let you join the social media world.”
The Gentlemen star revealed that since he was 12 years old, the couple had been discussing when to approve him for an account.
“All his friends had it for a long time,” Alves noted. “We held on.”
Added McConaughey: “He knows who he is and where he’s going. I think he’ll do well. He has a great story to tell and to share.”
“Levi, enjoy the adventure, enjoy telling your story, expressing yourself, enjoying what you put out there and interacting with people out there.”
In January, the couple celebrated their daughter Vida’s 14th birthday by sharing a rare photo of her on social media.
And just a few days before that, on December 28th, her son Livingston celebrated his 11th birthday.
