Matthew McConaughey Embraces His “Just Keep Livin'” Motto

Matthew McConaughey is widely recognized for his distinct three-word catchphrase: “Just Keep Livin.” Initially a memorable line from his role in the 1993 film “Dazed and Confused,” this motto took on deeper significance when he established the Just Livin Foundation in 2008, aiming to support high school students.

As a father of three and husband to Camila Alves, McConaughey shared with Fox News Digital that this motto is woven into every facet of his life. He mentioned that “keeping Livin” serves as a foundation for him in striving to support his family.

Filming Frights and Family Focus

McConaughey humorously recalled a moment while filming a commercial that “scared” Martha Stewart. He remarked, “It’s something I can’t negotiate in my life. They are my non-negotiable priorities.” He continued to reflect on how meeting Camila nineteen years ago fostered a family-centered lifestyle, which has only deepened with time.

He emphasized the importance of faith in his life, expressing a desire to maintain a strong foundation. “When my faith is strong… I have the courage to take risks,” he said, hinting at how this belief propels him forward.

Finding Balance in Texas

McConaughey now resides in Texas after leaving Los Angeles, appreciating the change of pace. He explained, “I like it here. The miles feel shorter, and time feels less rushed.” His family—his mother and two brothers—are nearby, offering a sense of community that adds to his comfort.

He candidly stated, “Hollywood was good for me, but I long for a simpler life.” In a reflective tone, he noted that his experiences inform his acting, and he prefers “real-life experiences” over performance-centered ones. He finds fulfillment in the quieter, more genuine lifestyle he leads in Texas.

Camila Alves, his wife, echoed his sentiments, sharing how their values align, particularly regarding their upbringing and commitment to family and faith. She mentioned that even as someone from Brazil, her move to Texas felt like a natural fit for their shared beliefs.
