Matthew Stafford connects with Davante Adams for two touchdowns in Rams' victory against the Bucs

Rams Overwhelm Buccaneers in Dominating Victory

The Los Angeles Rams secured another win, beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 34-7 on “Sunday Night Football.” This latest game marks the Rams’ sixth consecutive triumph, maintaining their lead in the NFC West with a 9-2 record. In contrast, the Buccaneers now hold a record of 6-5, tying them with the Carolina Panthers atop the NFC South.

The contest was notably one-sided, largely due to Matthew Stafford’s impressive performance in his 17th NFL season. He displayed remarkable confidence and control throughout the game.

Stafford delivered three touchdown passes, pushing his league-leading total to 30 for the year, with only two interceptions. Davante Adams, who himself is bouncing back, was a key player for the Rams, especially in the red zone, catching two touchdown passes, one of which helped the Rams secure the lead during a lengthy drive.

After the Buccaneers’ subsequent drive resulted in a pick-six thrown by Baker Mayfield, Stafford wasted no time at the start of the second quarter, connecting with tight end Colby Parkinson for a quick 5-yard touchdown pass, extending the Rams’ lead to 21-0.

Desperate for a touchdown, Mayfield did manage to tighten the score with a 14-yard catch from Tez Johnson. However, Stafford responded swiftly, completing a 65-yard drive that culminated in another touchdown reception by Adams, this time a perfectly placed 24-yard pass.

Adams concluded the evening with five catches for 62 yards, while Puka Nacua led the Rams with seven receptions amounting to 97 yards.

During the Buccaneers’ scoring drive, Mayfield took a considerable risk by running for 7 yards on a crucial third-and-6 play, colliding with two Rams defenders. This aggressive move came at a cost, injuring his left shoulder and ultimately forcing him out of the game.

When the first half ended, Mayfield attempted a Hail Mary but was visibly hampered, leading him to leave the field without using his left arm. As the second half began, he was replaced by backup Teddy Bridgewater, who was notably in street clothes on the sideline. While it’s not entirely clear what the specifics of Mayfield’s injury are, it seems serious enough that he couldn’t play through it.

The Buccaneers struggled to find any rhythm against the Rams’ strong defense, with Bridgewater completing only 8 of 15 passes for 62 yards, facing two sacks. Mayfield’s stats stood at 9 of 19 for 41 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions, including a failed Hail Mary attempt.

Overall, Tampa Bay managed just 193 yards of offense compared to Los Angeles’ 333. This lopsided performance underscores the Rams’ rise as a formidable team as they approach the final regular season game of 2025.
