Matthew Stafford’s Future with the Rams Uncertain

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has yet to decide on his future with the team as he contemplates another season.

During a podcast conversation with Jim Gray, Stafford expressed that he needs additional time before making a choice regarding his NFL career beyond 2026.

“This season was enjoyable,” Stafford remarked about playing for the Rams.

He mentioned that he hasn’t reached a conclusion yet, stating, “When you’re ready to figure it out, you’re ready to figure it out. That moment is not now.”

Reflecting on the emotional aftermath following the Rams’ loss to the Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game, Stafford shared a touching moment with one of his daughters. As she broke into tears, he felt it important to turn this moment into a life lesson.

“I told her, ‘Don’t think badly of me,'” he recounted. “I stressed, ‘My life is a blessing.’

He further emphasized how thankful he is for his family’s support and mentioned his eagerness to spend quality time with them now that the offseason has commenced.

As for when he plans to make a decision, Stafford was vague, offering a simple statement: “It’s going to be tough.” He added that it involves a complicated mix of physical, mental, and emotional factors, alongside family considerations. “All of that is going to take time to figure out.”

Stafford seems to have had his best season yet, throwing for 4,707 yards and 46 touchdowns with only eight interceptions while completing 65% of his passes.

With MVP recognition likely coming his way next week, the question remains: will he return as the Rams’ starting quarterback in 2026? That still seems uncertain.
