Matthew Stafford's final moments spark Rams victory over Panthers in NFL playoff debut

“A Team Effort”

Matthew Stafford addressed the media following the Los Angeles Rams’ surprising victory over the Carolina Panthers, which propelled them into the NFC Divisional Round.

On Saturday, Stafford received the news of his first All-Pro selection. Shortly after, he warmed up on the field in Charlotte just before the Rams and Panthers kicked off their NFL postseason matchup.

As a frontrunner for the NFL MVP, Stafford orchestrated two scoring drives in the fourth quarter, leading to a 34-31 win. This success also secured the Rams a spot in the upcoming NFC Divisional Round.

Though the Rams were favored going into the game, Stafford’s 19-yard touchdown pass to tight end Colby Parkinson in the final minute of the match clinched the victory.

Stafford started strong, but it seemed he may have hurt his throwing finger right before halftime. By the end of the second quarter, the Rams had a slight three-point edge.

In the third quarter, the teams exchanged field goals, with the Rams maintaining a narrow lead. However, this quarter also saw Stafford throw his only interception of the game.

With less than three minutes remaining, Bryce Young’s touchdown pass to Jalen Coker put the Panthers ahead 31-27. Nonetheless, Stafford quickly responded, driving the Rams 71 yards in just two minutes, ultimately finishing with Parkinson’s impressive catch in the end zone.

This victory marks the Rams’ return to the Divisional Round for the second consecutive year. Last season, their playoff journey ended in a 28-22 defeat after falling short by just 13 yards against Philadelphia.

Now, the Rams await the outcomes of the remaining Wild Card games to determine their next opponent in the Divisional Round.
