INDIANAPOLIS – Representatives for the Giants and Matthew Stafford met at the NFL Scouting Combine on Tuesday, sources told the Post.
The move further escalates the possibility that a new franchise quarterback will come to New York, even if it's a 37-year-old pro bowler for a team coming out of the 3-14 season.
Stafford, who is expected to earn $26 million this season on a four-year, $160 million contract, is seeking a new deal.
The Rams gave the representative permission to speak their contract number with the other teams. This will help you measure the Stafford market.
Even if they reach a mutually beneficial deal, the Rams must decide to say goodbye to Stafford (a strange decision for a Super Bowl candidate) and decide to make fair trade compensation with the Giants or other suitors.
Giants general manager Joe Shane postponed the Rams on Tuesday and asked if they had had a conversation with Stafford representatives at the NFL Scouting Combine.
