Mavericks assistant coach Darrell Armstrong was arrested Saturday for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon allegedly attacking his girlfriend with a gun. According to Dallas Morning News.
The incident occurred Saturday when Dallas police responded to a call around 3:45am.
Armstrong and his girlfriend attack her with a gun and then threaten to shoot her, after which he saw a message from another woman on his phone, It is said that they discussed it inside their apartment.
The situation escalated when Armstrong allegedly attacked a female victim with a gun and threatened to shoot her, a Dallas television station reported.
The Mavericks issued a statement in recognition that they were aware of the incident but did not name Armstrong.
“The Dallas Mavericks are aware of any incidents involving members of our staff and are collecting all relevant information surrounding the incident,” the team said in a statement. “We take this issue seriously. Our employees are placed at a halt of control until the results of legal proceedings are available. This issue is currently under review by appropriate legal authorities. Therefore, we will allow legal proceedings to carry out the course and refrain from further comment while the proceedings are underway.”
The prison records seen by the WFAA showed that the Mavericks assistant coach was booked in the prison around 7:30am, with his bond set at $35,000.

Armstrong posted the bonds and has not publicly commented on the incident.
The former point guard has been with MAVS staff as an assistant since 2009.
His transition to coaching continued his playing career from 1994 to 2008.
Armstrong spent 14 years in the NBA as a player, including the two spent on the Mavericks organization, including the 2005-2006 season when Dallas reached the NBA Finals.
Armstrong is the only player in NBA history to win both the sixth Man of the Year and the most improved player honors in one season that took place during the 1998-99 lockout season.
He ended his net career after enjoying magic, a stint with the New Orleans Hornets, Pacer and Mavericks.
