“A clown commented on his wife’s Tiktok that she and my son were preventing me from winning a major. I don’t think he ever saw my record before we had kids. It’s even worse! The moral of the story is that it’s all my wife’s fault for coming here for everything,” Homa wrote.
Indeed, the former California Golden Bear’s assessment was spot on.
Homa and his wife Lacey welcomed their first child in October 2022. Since then, he has played in four majors.
He finished T43 and T55 at last year’s Masters and PGA Championship, respectively. He then missed out on qualifying for the US Open, but achieved his first top 10 in a major at the British Open Championship (T10) in August.
Prior to that, his performance in the majors was much worse.
Homa appeared in five of 11 major league games. Of those five, only one finished inside the top 40, finishing T13 at the 2022 PGA Championship.
So it’s safe to say that his home life hasn’t negatively affected his ability in the majors. On the contrary, he is moving in the right direction.
Homa is undoubtedly one of the most well-liked players on the PGA Tour, and it’s easy to see why. He’s self-deprecating and outspoken, and he likes to laugh a lot at himself, too.
I hope he has big titles in his future. It will definitely keep him and his fans smiling.
