Max Verstappen makes his 2025 F1 plans clear

Internal turmoil at Red Bull in the early weeks of the 2024 Formula 1 season has led to speculation about Max Verstappen’s future with the team. With Christian Horner facing an internal investigation into allegations of inappropriate conduct with other team members, it was revealed that Verstappen’s long-term contract with the team included an escape route that would have allowed Verstappen to leave the organization if other key team members also left.

This has sparked speculation that Verstappen may find a new team for 2025, with Lewis Hamilton set to move to Ferrari next season and Mercedes not shying away from clinching the three-time drivers’ championship. Interest continues Last week’s Spanish Grand Prix.

but, FIA press conference Thursday Ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix, Verstappen stated that he was “not going anywhere.”

“I don’t think F1 is set up so that you can suddenly say ‘Goodbye, guys’. It’s not set up like that,” Verstappen said on Thursday.

“I have a long-term contract with the team so I’m very happy with where I am at right now and, as I said before, we’re already focusing on what we can implement on the car for next year.”

Asked afterwards if it upset him that teams such as McLaren and Ferrari were closing the gap on Red Bull, Verstappen ignored the question, pointing to Red Bull’s continued competitiveness.

“Of course, people are talking about it, but the most important thing is that we have a very competitive car for the future,” Verstappen continued. “At the moment, of course, it’s a very tough situation, but we are working very well as a team to try to improve further. Of course, I have already told the team, we are working and focused to be competitive again next year.”
