Max Crosby’s Dramatic Season Conclusion
In the final weeks of the season, Max Crosby experienced quite a bit of turmoil, particularly regarding how things wrapped up.
Just days after the season concluded, the Raiders’ standout edge rusher reflected on his love for football, emphasizing how it fuels his dedication on the field.
On Saturday, the 28-year-old Crosby was placed on injured reserve for the rest of the season due to a knee injury. This decision came a day after the Raiders suggested they preferred he skip the final two games of the 2025 season. Earlier in the week, Crosby had stated he was “not giving any thought” to the potential of the Raiders securing the top pick in the 2026 draft.
During a recent episode of the podcast “Let’s Go!”, Crosby didn’t delve into the details of his injury but discussed the “core principles” he values as a five-time Pro Bowler. He shared, “I have strong beliefs about football. There are essential principles to uphold, and the game should be played a particular way. When you step onto that field, you need to have that winning mindset. You’re playing for your teammates, giving your all, no matter the situation. Injuries are part of it. You’ll get banged up; it’s simply the nature of the game.”
Coinciding with the injured reserve announcement, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Crosby might require surgery on his knee.
Interestingly, right after the news broke, Crosby shared videos of himself shooting hoops and jumping on a trampoline, leaving it ambiguous when those clips were filmed.
When questioned about the likelihood of surgery, Crosby remarked that he felt perfectly fine.
“I’m doing great,” he stated. “I’m here at the facility, with a mix of thoughts and emotions, but my focus remains on working and supporting my teammates. Ultimately, I cherish being with my guys. That’s what matters. I’m doing well and feeling happy—simple as that.”
This week, the Raiders face the formidable Chiefs in their final game. A loss will secure them the top draft pick, which could pave the way for them to select Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Fernando Mendoza.
Additionally, Klobsey recently signed a substantial three-year contract extension worth $106.5 million, which will keep him with the Raiders until the end of the 2029 season.
