Maxx Crosby’s Situation with the Raiders Takes a Twist

The narrative surrounding Maxx Crosby and the Raiders got even more intriguing recently.

On the same Saturday the Raiders confirmed that they had placed their star defensive end on the reserve/injured list, Crosby shared some videos on his Instagram Story. This came after he sustained a knee injury during the season. In the clips, which he posted himself, Crosby was seen shooting hoops and bouncing on a trampoline.

One video captured by his wife Rachel showed the five-time Pro Bowler maintaining his balance on a trampoline while holding his daughter above him.

Later, another clip surfaced where Crosby could be seen playing basketball, with his family watching in the background.

It’s not exactly clear when these videos were recorded, but they add a layer of confusion to the situation. Two days prior, ahead of the Raiders’ Week 17 matchup against the Giants—where the No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft is at stake—reports indicated that Crosby had left the team facility after a game. He was reportedly “vehemently opposed” to the team’s strategy of sitting him out for the final two games of the season.

Crosby, a pivotal player for the Raiders’ defense, has openly expressed his reluctance to go along with a strategy that involves losing games for draft positioning. “He’s really upset about this, and he’s saying he wants out,” remarked first-year coach Pete Carroll, acknowledging Crosby’s feelings. “This didn’t just pop up; we’ve discussed it, and it’s understandable.”

The Raiders further clarified their decision to shut Crosby down in a statement they released Saturday. They explained that after consulting with top medical experts, it was evident that placing Crosby on the reserve/injured list was in the best interest of both the team and the player. The statement praised Crosby as a “true warrior,” highlighting his dedication to competing through the challenges he faced with his knee injury.

Concluding their remarks, the organization emphasized their appreciation for Crosby’s contributions: “He is a true Raider, both on and off the field, and we look forward to his leadership moving into 2026 and beyond.”

Crosby has been with the Raiders since 2019, when he was drafted in the fourth round from Eastern Michigan.

The kickoff for the game between the struggling 2-13 Giants and 2-13 Raiders is set for 4:05 p.m. ET.
