Miley Cyrus Engaged to Max Morando
Miley Cyrus is set to tie the knot with Max Morando, making her flower-buying days a thing of the past. The pop star, who rose to fame as a wild child in the early 2010s, proudly displayed her engagement ring at the “Avatar: Fire and Ash” premiere in Los Angeles on Monday, alongside her fiancé.
Although they have been together for four years, Morando, a 27-year-old rock drummer six years her junior, has largely stayed out of the Hollywood spotlight.
As Cyrus embraces a new chapter in her life, with partying and other wild behaviors behind her, sources say Morando offers her a calming influence. “He’s a very reserved person and has always been that way. Fun, silly—a real sweetheart,” a source shared.
Interestingly, Morando was living at home when their relationship began, a detail that shows his grounded nature. He had only two serious relationships prior to Miley, which is quite different from her previous partners.
Raised in Los Angeles, Morando comes from a family involved in the entertainment industry; his father is a reality TV producer. He, like Cyrus, began his career early, graduating from the renowned School of Rock and later drumming for the band The Regrettes before forming his current group, Lily.
Morando proposed during a recent trip to Japan, which caught Cyrus completely off guard. “I like to be in control of every situation, so I can’t be easily surprised, and I was completely surrendered,” she noted in an interview.
Cyrus has hailed Morando as a “great partner,” attributing much of her personal growth in recent years to him. “I’ve grown dramatically over the last four years…and a lot of that is because I have a great partner,” she explained, emphasizing the importance of having someone who supports your dreams.
The difference between her current relationship and her past one with Liam Hemsworth is notable. Sources suggest that Morando is more laid-back and complements her strong personality—something she seems to appreciate.
The two met through a blind date set up by Morando’s bandmate’s sister, and it appears to have been a perfect match. Cyrus’s past with Hemsworth, including their tumultuous relationship and subsequent divorce, lingers, but it seems she’s finally moved on, especially after her breakout hit “Flowers,” a song many interpreted as a reflection of her journey following her split. This song even garnered her two Grammy Awards in 2024.
Despite her rocky past, Cyrus is clearly looking forward to her future with Morando. Their engagement has been well-received by friends and family, who believe they make a great couple. “He’s very mature and down to earth,” a member of Morando’s family remarked, encapsulating why this relationship seems to have a solid foundation.
