‘Mayor and Governor Are Encouraging Rebellion’

Trump Critiques Minneapolis Leaders Amid Protests

On Saturday, President Donald Trump strongly criticized Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. He accused them of “inciting insurrection” with their reactions to a recent shooting involving Border Patrol agents, which escalated into a riot. In a pointed statement, Trump claimed that as the city fell into unrest, local and state authorities neglected their duty to uphold law enforcement, misrepresented the incident to the public, and now aimed to shift the blame onto federal officials.

After the shooting of an armed suspect by Border Patrol agents, Mayor Frey reportedly issued an ultimatum to President Trump. He stated, “if you stop this immigration operation, our city will be safe again,” according to a report by Randy Clark from Breitbart.

The President quickly responded via a post on Truth Social, insisting, “Let our ice patriots do their job! 12,000 illegal alien criminals, many of them violent, have been arrested and taken from Minnesota. If they were still there, you would see far worse than what you are witnessing today!”

Trump further alleged that Frey and Walz were intensifying their anti-ICE rhetoric as a distraction from an ongoing Department of Justice investigation into a fraudulent scheme involving Somalia.

He questioned, “Why is there $34 million in Ilhan Omar’s account? And where are the tens of billions stolen from the once great state of Minnesota? We’re facing massive financial fraud that left billions unaccounted for, alongside illegal criminals entering our state thanks to the Democrats’ open borders policies. We want our money back and fast. The criminals responsible will be sent to prison, where they belong! This is akin to a major bank robbery. Much of what is happening now is a cover-up of this theft and fraud.”

Trump continued, labeling Frey and Walz as “political idiots” whose “pompous, dangerous, and arrogant rhetoric” incites insurrection. He urged them to focus on recovering the stolen money from Minnesota’s citizens instead of undermining law enforcement efforts.

His remarks come at a time of increased tension in Minneapolis, spotlighting a growing divide between federal authorities and city officials regarding issues of immigration enforcement and public safety. As federal law enforcement dives deeper into the investigation surrounding the shooting incident, it seems likely that the conflict will escalate, with Trump indicating that federal operations will persist. He viewed the comments from Minneapolis leaders not as calls for calm, but rather as direct challenges to law enforcement officials.
