Controversy Surrounds NYC Mayor’s Wife’s Spotify Playlists
The wife of New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani, Rama Duwaj, is under scrutiny due to reportedly having an anti-Israel song on her Spotify, which allegedly includes lyrics that refer to “greedy Jews,” as mentioned by the Free Press.
At just 28 years old, Duwaj is said to maintain “two playlists” featuring anti-Israel content titled “Intifada” and “Ana Bakra Israel,” the latter of which reportedly translates to “I hate Israel.” It has been reported that some songs within her playlists have provocative lyrics, including phrases like “Free the Palestinian bitch, Israel will die bitch.”
Following the media’s discovery of her account, it has since been made private.
On social media, Olivia Rheingold, a reporter, inquired about Duwaj’s Spotify activity, questioning why the mayor’s wife would have a collection of songs featuring such controversial sentiments. She tweeted, “Ask Mamdani’s communications team why Rama Duwaj apparently has a Spotify account full of songs about greedy Jews and ‘Israel is dead bitch’.” The next day, she added that the account would be permanently closed.
One of the playlists consists of songs like “Intifada” and “Ana Bakrah Israel,” while another, labeled “p2p Palestine 2 Pree—DC Protest Trip,” features the song “FREE PALESTINE.” This second playlist seems to have been created for an upcoming protest event in Washington, scheduled for January 13, 2024. The song included has intense lyrics expressing strong views against Israel.
The playlist titled “Hungry by Sexy for Palestine” contains tracks such as “Amrikkah,” and the aforementioned “Ana Bakra Israel.” Another song featured in this collection, “Rajaoui Filistini,” has gained popularity among Moroccan soccer fans and calls for protection from oppression and betrayal, referring pointedly to “greedy Jews.” The second playlist appears to set the mood for the March on Washington for Gaza. Some lyrics in the featured songs are notably aggressive, including:

Additionally, Duwaj’s Spotify account reportedly features an anti-police playlist titled “ACAB,” which stands for “All Cops Are Bastards.”
