Days after the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attack on the Jewish state, Republican congressman Maj Pilip on Friday criticized his Democratic opponent Tom Suozzi for his fundraising campaign and urged him to boycott upcoming events. I called on them to do so.
A video posted on Facebook by Akhnaf Alam, who is raising funds for Suozzi, on October 16 shows non-Orthodox Jews denying the existence of Israel and calling for its “peaceful dismantling.” A spokesperson for the organization Neturei Karta is shown.

Pilip, a former member of the Israeli Defense Forces, accused Alam of promoting the video and called on Suozzi to disavow it.
“There is no place in Congress for people who associate with unapologetically anti-Semites,” she said.

Suozzi's campaign quickly hit back, saying Allam was not a campaign aide and saying Pilip's accusations were simply an attempt to distract from a campaign that “refuses to appear in front of the press and the public.” He blamed it for being just that.

“I am not aware of the comments mentioned by my opponents, but if I find them to be anti-Semitic, [sic]I will publicly denounce them as I have always done,” the Democrat added.
Alam did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Friday's fight came a day after both candidates held heated press conferences in an attempt to capitalize on New York City's burgeoning immigration crisis to rally support for their campaigns.
