McCarthy Compares Democratic Infighting to a ‘Civil War’

McCarthy likens Democratic infighting to 'civil war'

Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif) likened his situation to a “civil war,” criticizing the Democrats regarding a segment of that.

“The contemporary party we observe, the Democrats, resembles the Civil War, which explains the lack of leadership,” McCarthy stated during his appearance on Fox News Friday morning.

“Had there been a leader, this wouldn’t occur,” he added.

Democrats have maintained unity around a singular message since President Trump returned to the White House, as he grapples with identifying his next leader while facing increasing demands for generational change.

Democrat National Committee (DNC) vice-chairman David Hogg has recently spearheaded efforts in the party, launching a $20 million initiative aimed at Democrats in prominently secure districts through a leadership group worthy of the cause.

Newly elected chairman Ken Martin condemned attempts to sway the primary election outcomes, encouraging party officials to uphold neutrality.

McCarthy noted that the disparity ultimately signifies a considerable divide in the party’s unilateral capacity to progress. The ousted House Speaker pointed to the recent decision of the Florida Senate minority leader to leave the party as a fresh illustration of discord.

“He departed the party, became independent, and declared the Democrats were ‘finished.’ This poses a genuine concern,” McCarthy remarked regarding Jason Pizzo.

“However, if you’re with [Senate Minority Leader Chuck] Schumer [(D-N.Y.)] or [House Minority Leader] Hakeem [Jeffries (D-N.Y.)], your leadership is insufficient; they seek someone else,” he continued.

The former House Speaker asserted that Democrats were engaged in an “internal struggle” and needed someone to “unify” the party.

McCarthy mentioned Senators Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) as influential figures within the party but dismissed them, stating, “they exist outside the party.”
