Pennsylvania Senate candidate Dave McCormick (R) was ridiculed on Wednesday for confusing Philadelphia, Mississippi, with Pennsylvania's largest city on his X account.
McCormick's account on the social platform “X” shared footage from a local news station in Mississippi reporting on the shooting that police said was carried out by an alleged gang member from El Salvador.
The post criticized Vice President Harris and Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) over immigration policy.
“MS-13 gang members are terrorizing Philadelphians because of Harris and Casey's radical open border policies,” McCormick captioned the post.
The post was deleted minutes after it was posted. ABC 27 reported..
A spokesman for Casey, McCormick's opponent in the key Senate race, said: Screenshot shared Posted.
“Dave, this story is about Philadelphia, Mississippi. It's not about Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,” said Maddie McDaniel, Casey's public relations director. I wrote to X.
“This is what a Philadelphia police car looks like. Hope this helps!” she added alongside the photo.

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pennsylvania) also seized on the mistake, criticizing McCormick's ties to Connecticut.
“That tends to happen with people who live in Connecticut but run for senate in Pennsylvania,” Fetterman said. I wrote in X's post.
A McCormick spokesperson acknowledged the error in a statement to The Hill.
“We made mistakes with the tweets, but none as egregious as when Bob Casey allowed illegal immigrant gang members to terrorize the American people because of Ms Harris and his radical open border policies,” the spokesperson said.
McCormick has faced criticism from opponents for owning a home in Connecticut. Listed as primary addressMcCormick lost the 2022 Republican primary to well-known heart surgeon Dr. Mehmet Oz, but was on the ballot in Pennsylvania for the first time in 16 years, the Associated Press reported.
