McDonald’s Hosts Unique Wedding in Northeast Ohio
A McDonald’s in northeast Ohio recently transformed into a wedding venue when two co-workers exchanged vows on a Saturday. The ceremony took place in front of friends, family, fellow employees, and a few curious patrons.
Following her marriage to George Callicourt, bride Jamie Callicourt from Akron shared with news outlets that guests were eager to get into the lobby, even though the dining area was closed off for the wedding festivities.
“I was handing out extra sauce to actual customers in my wedding dress,” she laughed.
Despite the celebration, the drive-thru remained operational, and some customers placed orders at the kiosk. Jamie noted that everyone, even unexpected customers, got into the spirit of the event.
“Whether it’s off-duty or on-duty, it’s still work,” she remarked. “We were there for a private wedding.”
The couple’s intimate ceremony quickly gained traction on social media.
“Content surrounding the wedding has received over 20 million impressions on platforms like Instagram and Facebook,” announced McDonald’s of Northeast Ohio.
“I expected some attention, but I never thought it would be like this,” Jamie said, astonished by the response.
After the wedding, the couple returned to work on Tuesday, where they were congratulated by customers and colleagues alike.
“Our co-workers are fantastic, and our bosses have been amazing, making sure we felt celebrated,” Jamie said.
Even the security personnel at the restaurant recognized them, with one saying, “Oh my God, we saw the video. Congratulations!”
Jamie, who managed the McDonald’s, and George, a crew trainer, initially crossed paths through mutual friends at Cedar Point, Ohio, back in June 2025. After dating, when Jamie started working at McDonald’s in October 2025, George helped train her.
“I really like his personality,” Jamie expressed. “We have such a good connection. I appreciate everything about him; he’s a wonderful guy.”
George echoed her sentiments, saying, “I love everything about her. She’s kind and caring.”
The couple got engaged at Cedar Point and initially planned a wedding there. However, when the district manager jokingly suggested they wed at McDonald’s, Jamie took a moment to think it over before deciding, “Why not?”
McDonald’s also contributed to the celebration, organizing the wedding dinner, cake, and other special touches. Jamie shared that the entire experience was quite budget-friendly compared to their earlier ideas.
They prepared some of the decorations and food themselves, serving barbecue chicken, buffalo chicken dip, and homemade rigatoni to their guests, while the kids enjoyed freshly made McDonald’s meals.
In a playful twist, flower girls tossed petals from Happy Meal boxes, which Jamie found to be a charming addition.
“I thought it was adorable. We work at McDonald’s, after all!” she noted.
McDonald’s management highlighted that the wedding represented more than just a simple event; it reflected love and community. Jamie described the entire experience as “perfect.”
“I had an amazing time,” she concluded. “Our team really made it special for us.”
