McDonald's in Washington to settle class action for thousands

Job seekers who submitted applications to McDonald’s franchises along the West Coast might soon receive checks exceeding $1,000 in the mail.

KTC LLC, a Washington-based franchise operator, has reached a $681,600 settlement in a class-action lawsuit. This followed accusations of posting job ads that lacked salary details. The situation highlights a potential violation of Washington state’s Equal Pay and Equal Opportunity Act, which mandates employers provide pay ranges in their job postings.

Although KTC LLC denied any wrongdoing, the decision to settle was made to avoid prolonged court battles.

Those who applied for positions at KTC-operated McDonald’s locations between January 1, 2023, and March 13, 2025, could qualify for compensation if their applications were to stores with incomplete wage information. Each eligible applicant might expect around $1,093.40, although that figure could change due to litigation expenses and payment distributions.

Most individuals included in the settlement are likely not required to submit claims—checks should be mailed automatically to the addresses on file.

A final hearing for approval is set for August 30, and, pending approval, payments could start a month later. Additionally, part of the settlement will be allocated to cover legal and administrative costs tied to the case.
