McDonald’s New Caesar Sauce Sparks Salad Queries

As McDonald’s introduces its new Caesar sauce across the nation, many customers are left wondering: “Where’s my salad?”

The Illinois-based fast food chain has announced that starting July 21st, participating locations will offer the Caesar sauce for a limited time. This sauce, described as “creamy, garlicky Parmesan cheese with a hint of lemon,” is set to enhance their popular chicken menu this summer.

The Caesar sauce, specifically designed for chicken items, will be featured in the new Caesar Snack Wrap and the Bacon Caesar McCrispie Sandwich. Additionally, customers can order Caesar dip cups a la carte at participating locations.

Nevertheless, when McDonald’s teased the new sauce on Instagram, many fans voiced their disappointment about the absence of salad options.

“What to put on it?! Salad isn’t back yet,” one user commented, rolling their eyes. Another added, “If this is the case, the salad should be on the menu too.” A third exclaimed, “Just bring me a rocking salad cup!”

Others chimed in with their thoughts, questioning whether any employees or executives at McDonald’s actually enjoyed salads. Suggestions included introducing a salad to-go and pondering the fate of the salad shaker.

Interestingly, McDonald’s has had a long history of experimenting with salads. The Washington Post noted their initial foray into this healthy side back in 1986, followed by tests of mac salad shakers in 1999.

By the early 2000s, the MacSalad shaker was part of the menu, designed for easy eating and portability. However, the focus shifted again when, by 2003, it was replaced by premium salads. Reports suggest that during the COVID-19 pandemic, salads were entirely removed from the menu.

Joe Erlinger, president of McDonald’s U.S., revealed in a recent interview that salads just aren’t what customers desire from the fast-food chain. He noted that “the demand isn’t there,” and people are more inclined towards fries and value meals instead.

Overall, while fans are excited about the new Caesar sauce, the demand for salad seems to remain a distant hope. McDonald’s appears set on offering what their customers are asking for, even if that doesn’t include greens.
