McDonald’s Revives Monopoly Game After a Decade
After a long hiatus, McDonald’s is set to reintroduce its famous Monopoly game starting October 6th. Fans can look forward to experiencing the “thrill of peel” once again, featuring both digital and traditional game pieces that can be found in selected menu items.
To participate, customers will need to order from the exclusive McDonald’s menu and will be prompted to collect property pieces through the app. This process involves peeling off game pieces and redeeming them for prizes, adding an interactive element to the dining experience.
Each game piece allows players an additional chance to win rewards within the app. The range of prizes is impressive, spanning from complimentary food items to luxurious vacations and even a grand million-dollar prize. In a statement, Alyssa Buetikofer, who serves as the senior vice president and chief marketing and customer experience officer at McDonald’s US, expressed enthusiasm for the return, noting that many fans have eagerly awaited it. She mentioned how the game has become a cherished memory for countless customers.
The menu will feature beloved items like quarter pounders, cheese, egg muffins, fries, and there are over 30 options available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
As players gather property pieces, they’ll have a shot at major prizes like a $50,000 vacation, which includes a substantial amount of American Airlines miles, or a $10,000 shopping spree. Additionally, smaller prizes such as free food items—including bacon, egg and cheese biscuits and double cheeseburgers—will be available. Players can also earn MyMcDonald reward points along the way.
For those who engage with the game until November 2nd, there’s the possibility of winning a 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and an exclusive experience sponsored by the Coca-Cola Company.
However, the return of Monopoly isn’t without its shadows. The game’s history includes a scandal from the early 2000s, when Jerome P. Jacobson, who was responsible for distributing winning tickets, embezzled nearly $24 million worth of prizes for personal gain. This led to an FBI investigation, the arrest of Jacobson and several conspirators in 2001, and even sparked a 2020 HBO documentary titled “McMillion $.”
How to Participate in Monopoly at McDonald’s
