McDonald’s ‘skimpy’ $5 menu deal angers customers

McDonald’s customers are furious that the fast food chain’s new $5 worth of items are “cheap” and that the promotion will only last for one month.

The Chicago-based company will launch a $5 combo meal on June 25 that includes a McDouble or McChicken sandwich, small fries, four Chicken McNuggets and a small soft drink.

The campaign will end at the end of July.

Another X user, Michelle Sanford, wrote, “What McDonald’s unfortunately doesn’t understand is that it should be an everyday price, not a special price.”

Sanford accused the company of making “one of the worst-selling products at a special price because it’s so poor.”

X user Someone named Rodney He said McDonald’s offer was not competitive.

“So McDonald’s has a $5 a month meal deal. Wendy’s already has multiple meal deals starting at $5 so it’s useless unless they make it permanent,” Rodney wrote. .

A McDonald’s spokesperson told the Post: “We know how much it means to our customers that McDonald’s delivers meaningful value and communicates that through national advertising. That’s been true since our inception, and it’s never been truer than it is today. Nothing important.”

According to the company, 90% of McDonald’s franchisees offer set menus for less than $4.

The high levels of inflation that have hit the economy in recent years have forced companies like McDonald’s to raise prices on menu items.

Some McDonald’s locations charge $18 for a Big Mac meal and $7.29 for an Egg McMuffin.

McDonald’s reported in its latest earnings report that global sales growth has slowed for the fourth straight quarter as budget-conscious consumers leave.

“I think it’s important to recognize that all income groups are looking for value,” CEO Chris Kempczinski said on a post-earnings conference call.

Kempczinski said McDonald’s faces the challenge of appealing to “very discerning” consumers who are careful about “how they spend their money.”

“We have seen that our relative affordability advantage has declined in some markets,” Kempczinski added.

McDonald’s stock was down slightly 0.6% as of midday Friday.
