A Thai medical intern fought off a drunk nurse who tried to grope him one night, using his martial arts skills to kick the nurse who tried to attack him.
“I’ve been boxing since I was a child,” Pecharapong Padunjai, 22, told reporters. “I know how to kick, knee and punch someone. I know how to grapple with someone. It was an instinctive reaction to defend myself.”
“I was fortunate that my grandfather taught me self-defense at an early age,” she added. “Those lessons saved my life.”
Security camera footage from around midnight shows Pecharapong getting some food before heading out for the night when the 30-year-old male nurse approaches her from behind. He first walks around behind her as if he was just wandering around, then turns around and reaches out to her.

The nurse quickly grabs the resident’s arm and pushes him back towards the opposite wall. The resident maintains a strong grip on the nurse, but as soon as he turns to face the nurse she presses her knee into his groin, trying to break free.
Once away, she kicked him again and punched him in the stomach, taking a defensive position and yelling at him to stand down.

A petite Thai medical trainee used Muay Thai kicks to fight off an attempted assault by a drunk male nurse at a hospital. Speaking publicly for the first time since the incident, Pecharapong Padunjai (pictured), 22, said that a colleague snuck up behind her and groped her while she was working the night shift in Samut Prakan, Thailand. But he didn’t know that she enjoyed Muay Thai boxing, so she kneed him in the groin and then kicked him in the stomach to subdue the suspect.
According to ViralPress, the hospital reported the incident to police and fired the nurse after allegations emerged that she had similarly harassed other female residents.
Pecharapong said she ordered dinner but was unable to collect it herself, so a nurse who was drinking at a nearby food stall brought it to her. Because men are not allowed in the women’s ward, she had to go to the general ward.
