Medicare Advantage enrollment growth slows drastically – STAT

The number of people enrolled in the private Medicare Advantage plan increased by just 3.1% from 2024 to 2025. It's one of the slowest growth in the program, far below forecasts from the federal government and Wall Street.

More than 34.4 million elderly people, disabled people and people with disabilities, as of February 1, were paying for the Medicare Advantage plan with 33.4 million people at the same time, along with 33.4 million people at the same time, according to new federal data analyzed by STAT.

Data shows that the Medicare Advantage plan has won 1 million since February last year, but just before the Medicare annual enrollment window opens for two months, the profits are much smaller compared to October, allowing people to buy the policy. The Medicare Advantage program has only won 560,000 people since October. The data does not detail whether those who are enrolled are new to Medicare or can switch from traditional Medicare.
