Seattle — The holiday shopping season may have begun, but one of the more important things on many seniors' to-do lists this time of year is shopping for health insurance.
Gary Culp, Cigna Medicare expert, said, “Today we're going to really stop and look at what insurance we have today, what's working, what's not working, and what we want.'' Now is the time to think about whether there are any.”
On Tuesday, October 15, Medicare will begin its annual enrollment period, a critical time for millions of Americans age 65 and older.
Beneficiaries can go beyond traditional Medicare plans by adding supplements to cover other costs.
“Additional benefits are also included, such as fitness, dental, vision, hearing, and even transportation to and from doctor's appointments,” Culp said.
54% of Medicare beneficiaries are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan.
“Part of the reason they did it is that many of these plans are offered at no additional premium and are affordable.Cigna Healthcare is a health care plan with zero premium options. ,” Culp said.
So where do you start? Culp says health care is a personal balance of coverage and cost. However, your needs may change over time.
“Really, now is the time to make those decisions, and we're here to help. We can help in terms of guiding you through the options that are available to you,” Culp said. .
The registration period is until December 7th.
