Medvedev claims European leaders couldn't surpass Trump on Ukraine.

Former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev launched a criticism of European leaders on Tuesday, pointing fingers at Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He accused Zelensky of not “denouncing” former President Trump during a recent meeting. Medvedev expressed his thoughts on X, claiming that the “ambitious anti-Russian warming coalition” failed to gain traction with Trump.

The term “All-Wished Union” was mentioned in reference to a group of European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and Finnish President Alexander Stubb. They gathered for a meeting where they discussed support for a peace deal in Ukraine. Attendees also included NATO Executive Director Mark Latte and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

Medvedev remarked sarcastically that these leaders seemed to be “thanking” Trump and suggested they were overly accommodating. He referred to Zelensky as “The Kiev Clown” and made a peculiar comment about Zelensky wearing a green uniform again, implying a return to a place he once knew.

The meeting on Monday followed Trump’s summit with Putin, which took place in Alaska. Afterward, Trump indicated that he had begun discussions with Putin about the next steps in peace negotiations to resolve the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

On his social media platform, Trump mentioned he was initiating a “conference arrangement” involving both Zelensky and Putin. This trilateral meeting appeared to be focused on unity among the leaders concerning Ukraine’s future security.

While Trump reaffirmed U.S. support for European security guarantees, aimed at ensuring Moscow doesn’t reassert control over Ukraine post-war, it’s clear that the international dialogue is fraught with challenges. Earlier on the same day, Macron emphasized the need for a resolution to the conflict, although Russian officials later adjusted those comments. In any case, it seems the back-and-forth between these major players will continue to shape the landscape of this ongoing situation.
