Meghan Markle Responds to Disturbing Allegations Against Her Father
On Friday, Meghan Markle revealed she received a letter in 2018 detailing “troubling and disturbing allegations” against her father. Her half-brother has accused him of possessing child sexual abuse images.
According to a report from The Sun, Thomas Markle Jr. stated he found “hundreds, if not thousands” of explicit images of children in his father’s possessions while he was in the Philippines. Thomas Markle Sr. has denied these allegations.
In a statement on Friday, Markle expressed that she learned about these allegations eight years ago and subsequently decided to limit her father’s access to her children, as reported by People.
“I am deeply distressed at the news that has come to light in the last 24 hours, and my thoughts are with any children who may have been harmed,” Markle stated.
She continued, “In 2018, a letter was sent to the Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection, which was later shared with me.” The letter made concerning allegations against her father, and she was assured that these claims were under investigation.
Markle emphasized that, despite some media distortions over the years, her decision to keep her father away from her children was solely to protect them.
She expressed hope that it could now be understood why she felt the need to distance herself from her father, stating, “I trusted that the authorities were doing the same for other families.” However, she remarked that the extent of what has been revealed is more horrifying than one could imagine.
Markle hopes for “justice to be fully served.”
In a claim reported by the Daily Mail, Thomas Jr. said he found the troubling material in four large storage bins left by his father when he returned to the U.S. He reported his findings to the police.
Additionally, Thomas Jr. alleged that he saw a screensaver on a computer containing explicit images and a video involving a young girl engaged in a sexual act.
In response, Thomas Sr. countered his son’s claims, stating that he did not have the computers since he moved from Rosarito, Mexico, to the Philippines in January 2025.
“Those computers were boxed up in Mexico and put on a cargo ship which took months to get to the Philippines,” he claimed.
When asked whether he had downloaded pornographic material, Thomas Sr. firmly answered, “Never. Never. Never. I have never done that.” He also expressed willingness for an expert to examine the computer.
“These terrible lies are being made against me with no proof,” he stated, questioning how such accusations could be made without evidence. He also suggested that his son was fabricating these allegations “for money.”
