Prince Harry and Meghan Extend Netflix Partnership
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Prince Harry and Meghan have announced an expansion of their partnership with Netflix and Archewell Productions, solidifying several years of first-look deals.
Since 2020, Archewell has collaborated with Netflix, producing various documentary projects, including the well-received “Harry & Meghan.” Additionally, the Duchess of Sussex has worked on developing a lifestyle brand with Netflix.
This partnership has yielded several documentary series such as Polo, Heart of Invictus, and Live Toledo.
Meghan expressed her appreciation for their collaboration, stating, “My husband and I feel inspired by our partners who work closely with us and the Archewell Productions team to create thoughtful content across genres that resonate globally and celebrate our shared vision.”
The couple recently announced forthcoming projects, including the second season of the lifestyle and cooking show “Love, Meghan,” featuring the Duchess. This season will also include a special holiday episode in December.
According to Netflix, the show has become its most-viewed culinary series since its premiere in March. A six-month Netflix report indicated that it has garnered 5.3 million views, placing it among the top releases for the first half of the year.
A documentary short titled “Masaka Kids, Rhythm,” highlighting a small orphanage in Uganda’s Masaka region, is set for release this year. Furthermore, Archewell is involved in the production of a Netflix adaptation of Carley Fortune’s novel, Meet Me at the Lake, which tells a decade-long love story that starts with a chance encounter and a broken promise.
Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria noted, “Harry and Meghan are influential voices of stories that resonate with audiences everywhere. Their response to their work speaks for itself.”
This latest agreement with Netflix forms part of the couple’s ongoing efforts to pursue business opportunities in the United States. They also entered a multi-year deal with Spotify in 2020 to produce the podcast “Archetypes,” but parted ways with the company in 2023.
The couple continues to navigate life away from the British royal family while residing in California with their two young children.
