Meghan Markle Reflects on Her Early Days Before Fame
In a recent episode of her podcast, “The Female Founder Confession,” Meghan Markle opened up about her life prior to becoming a well-known figure. The 43-year-old shared insights into her past, referencing her modest beginnings in a small house. It was interesting to hear her reminisce about, well, what we might call a less glamorous time.
When speaking with Cassandra Morarestor Swell, a former stylist and CEO, Meghan fondly recalled the layout of her old home. “Do you remember my closet door in the bathroom?” she playfully inquired. It seemed like a nostalgic moment for both of them.
Thurswell, who was on the podcast, laughed and said, “Meghan, we call it a bungalow; we become chic.” Markle didn’t shy away from describing her early living conditions, admitting, “You had to walk through my bedroom, through my bed, to get to the shower.” It’s a little humbling to hear how far she’s come.
Markle also spoke about her journey as a struggling actress, noting that securing her role as Rachel Zane in “Suits” was a turning point for her. She mentioned a time when she was auditioning and had to make do with a tight wardrobe budget, which is perhaps relatable to anyone who’s ever had to prioritize finances.
Reflecting on her experiences, Meghan talked about the challenges and hustle involved in trying to break into the industry. There was a sense of determination in her voice as she recalled those days. She explained how she often didn’t have a solid strategy but relied on her ability to keep pushing forward.
Markle also recounted a conversation about a specific pair of shoes she hesitated to buy but ended up wearing during her final audition for “Suits.” “It’s funny,” she said, “I was still wearing those shoes until the red wore off.” It’s those little anecdotes that reveal a lot about her resilience—and some humor too.
Though she left “Suits” after season seven to marry Prince Harry in 2018, Meghan shared her aspirations about motherhood, which, she admits, have evolved over time. “I always envisioned myself as a mom,” she shared, reflecting on how her expectations differed from reality.
Since stepping back from royal duties, the Duchess has ventured into several new projects, including a lifestyle brand and a Netflix series. In April, she launched a limited line of products that sold out quickly, a testament to her enduring popularity.
Today, Meghan, along with Harry, calls Montecito home, having made a life together far removed from their previous public roles. It seems like she’s carving out a path that feels more authentic to her, a path shaped by both her past experiences and her aspirations for the future.
