Meghan Markle has been accused of “monourizing the monarchy” after creating a Shopmy page where she can earn fees through affiliate links she posts.
The 43-year-old Duchess of Sussex took her to social media on Monday to reveal that she will post a link to her favorite outfit.
“A lot of people asked, so I'm going here! Do some shopping a little to start the week. I'll come more. I'll link with Bio❤️,” the alum wrote. Her Instagram Stories.
Markle describes her just-released page as a “a collection of curated and curated curated things I love,” and says she is entitled to collect commissions from purchases made through the platform.
Online closets featured mainly designer pieces, including expensive linen shirts, sweaters, sunglasses, and handbags. Most items boast neutral shades, such as beige, brown, white, black and navy blue.
Prices vary, but most of the items listed boast an eye-opening price tag.
These include a $1,415 beige loro pianakashimere clue neck, a $1,350 heidimelic dress, $388 priced brochure walker pants, and a gold Maya Brenner happiness retreat citrien stone necklace.
Eagled Eyed users noticed that Markle labeled his online store under the royal title “Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.”
But it wasn't long before the former royal money-making venture seemed to rub people the wrong way as critics rushed to social media to share their thoughts.
“Do people need another celebrity who sells things they don't need at this moment in our country's financial state? I really hope for her!” I wrote it on x.
“I can't believe she's allowed to escape by monetizing the monarchy,” another wrote. Added“I have enough cream clothes, but thank you! Plus, I like clothes that don't wrinkle and fit properly.”
Another Added“So Meghan is now just putting her clothes out of the air, using her royal title.
“It's shocking to join Meghan on Shopmy. At least before she started looking at affiliate links, she thought she would wait until it was released. She saw others earning $ from items on the show and wanted a cut, but she really reached influencer status.” I wrote it.
“And here we'll protect the links. She makes money from affiliate links,” another Added. “It's literally the crap of the lowest budget influencers, and the British royal duchess is the shilling link to make a committee.”
Still, not everyone criticized Markle's money moves.
“Meghan Sussex is currently offering details about the outfit,” said one person. I wrote it. “This is very smart. Now she can use her massive social media reach to hit deals with these brands. I can only imagine what makes a solid amount from affiliate links on clothing and allows her almost 3 million followers to make her.”
Another addition, “Finally! I was hoping Megan Sussex would do this.” I wrote it“Yeah, Meghan, get her money too! #shopmy.”
The move comes weeks after Kate Middleton asked the palace to stop revealing details of what she wears to her royal engagement.
Instead, the Princess of Wales wants to focus on “really important issues” such as philanthropy and philanthropy.
