Meghan Markle’s Netflix Series Struggles to Gain Traction
Meghan Markle’s new series, With Love, Megan, seems to be facing significant challenges in attracting viewers, having failed to break into the top 300 shows on Netflix. Since its launch on March 4, the cooking and lifestyle program has garnered just 5.3 million viewers and currently sits at rank 383.
Moreover, it appears that the series—which aims to promote Markle’s lifestyle brands—has struggled compared to hundreds of other shows since its debut. Interestingly, a documentary the couple released titled Polo ranks even lower, coming in at around 3,436 out of nearly 7,000 shows, with only 500,000 views worldwide.
For perspective, the most popular show this year, the British drama Puberty, attracted an impressive 145 million viewers shortly after its release. In contrast, With Love, Megan has not fared nearly as well.
This lifestyle series is part of the significant $100 million deal that Markle and Prince Harry struck with Netflix. It hasn’t even come close to the viewership numbers achieved by other series; for instance, I Miss You attracted 58 million viewers, while a murder mystery series called Housing garnered 33 million.
Despite its rocky launch, there are indications that a third season of With Love, Megan might be on the horizon, although this doesn’t imply that Markle’s contract has been renewed. Sources have suggested that Netflix tends to film multiple seasons at once, allowing them to adjust based on viewer feedback.
The series did debut in the global top 10 but quickly fell out of that ranking just six days later. Viewers’ reactions have been mixed, with some expressing confusion and labeling the show as narcissistic on social media.
As per insider reports, the show has not met expectations, raising concerns among the streaming service’s executives. It appears that the feedback from both press and viewers is leading to a cautious outlook regarding its future.
