Megyn Kelly Critiques Charlize Theron’s Podcast Revelations
Megyn Kelly has sharply criticized Charlize Theron, labeling her as “vulgar” and “uncomfortable” following Theron’s recent admission of a one-night stand with a 26-year-old man.
Kelly, who was portrayed by Theron in the film “Bombshell,” expressed skepticism about Theron’s choice to discuss her anxiety regarding popularity during an episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast hosted by Alex Cooper.
“She went on a podcast tour and chose to sit down with a sex podcaster who has interviewed various public figures,” Kelly remarked on her show. “I just don’t get it.”
“This may sound a bit like Charlize Theron—who is, I think, a pretty cool person—but there’s something off here,” Kelly continued. “At 49, she’s acting like she’s 26. It’s inappropriate and feels odd, given her status as a major star.”
In the latter half of the episode, Kelly suggested that Theron might be overstating her sexual experiences to gain attention.
“I suspect that Charlize might actually lean more towards women,” Kelly stated. “That’s just my belief based on what I’ve seen. And I’m not sure she’s being entirely honest about that encounter with the 26-year-old.”
While promoting her upcoming Netflix film “The Old Guard 2,” Theron told Cooper that women should embrace their sexuality confidently.
The accomplished actress has previously discussed her sexuality, including a 2017 appearance on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live,” where she addressed having experiences with women in her youth.
“It was a part of my life, but I’ve always preferred men,” she said then, noting her support for better representation of bisexuality in films.
Kelly also took issue with the explicit language used by Theron during the podcast, saying, “I enjoy a good expletive, but not in every sentence.”
During the podcast, Theron mentioned her ability to raise her two adopted daughters, Jackson and August, without a male partner.
“Doesn’t she need a father figure for her kids? Is she really proud of not having one around? That’s great for her, but it’s just strange to hear one of our top actresses discussing such personal topics in that manner,” Kelly concluded.
Theron adopted Jackson in 2012 and August in 2015. In 2019, it was revealed that Jackson identifies as transgender, something Theron publicly supported from an early age.
Though never married, Theron has been open about her dating history, including a long-term relationship with Stuart Townsend and a brief one with Sean Penn.
Recently, she described her experiences on the celebrity dating app Raya as disappointing and described them as “dishonest.” Looking ahead, she expressed hope for a more fulfilling connection.
As Kelly wrapped up her segment, she noted that she couldn’t imagine a star like Julia Roberts engaging in similar discussions.
“Roberts knows her worth and doesn’t compromise her image,” Kelly said.
So far, neither Theron nor Cooper has publicly responded to Kelly’s remarks.
