Megyn Kelly Addresses Dispute Between Turning Point USA CEO and Candace Owens
On her show, “The Megyn Kelly Show,” Megyn Kelly shared that she chose not to publicly address the conflict between Turning Point USA (TPUSA) CEO Erica Kirk and podcaster Candace Owens.
Owens has been accused of supporting conspiracy theories that claim TPUSA “betrayed” its founder, Charlie Kirk, suggesting that his assassination on September 10 was orchestrated, which led to criticism from “The Charlie Kirk Show.” Kelly noted that although she dismissed the allegations against TPUSA, she felt it wasn’t her place to condemn Owens.
“Some might wonder why I stayed silent about this, especially considering my past comments about Erica. The truth is, I was working quietly behind the scenes to help smooth things over,” Kelly explained.
Kirk and Owens met privately on a recent Monday, describing their gathering as “productive.” Kelly mentioned that Kirk reached out to her weeks earlier, asking for her assistance in facilitating this meeting, which she agreed to do, and Owens welcomed her involvement.
“They discussed details they both wanted to sort out, what worked for each of them. Inevitably, they faced some challenges, which led them to opt for a private meeting instead of a public one,” Kelly added. “I thought going private was a smart choice, and we continued to communicate afterwards.”
“This is what I’ve been working on. My core audience understands me and knows I don’t jump to the worst conclusions or abandon anyone. I really believe my role here is to help guide everyone to a better situation, though I’m not entirely sure how,” Kelly reflected.
While expressing her strong support for TPUSA, she argued that engaging in public disputes from a studio wouldn’t be constructive.
“Just because I have my loyalties doesn’t mean I have to attack those who view things differently. Getting embroiled in drama isn’t going to benefit anyone’s mental well-being or the conservative movement as a whole,” she said.
Kirk also expressed her anger at conspiracy theorists who propagated false claims about her husband’s assassination during an episode of Fox News’ “Outnumbered.” “Come after me if you want, call me names, I don’t mind. But when you involve my family and my colleagues, that’s crossing a line,” she said passionately. “This obsession costs me dearly. It harms the people I care about. It’s not just wrong; it’s a toxic mindset.”
