Megyn Kelly states she facilitated a truce between Erika Kirk and Candace Owens.

Megyn Kelly mentioned that she facilitated a meeting between Erica Kirk, the widow of Charlie Kirk, and Candace Owens, a podcaster who has questioned the circumstances surrounding her husband’s assassination.

“A lot of our viewers have been curious about why I haven’t commented given my prior remarks about Erica. The truth is I’ve been working behind the scenes,” Kelly shared on her podcast, “The Megyn Kelly Show,” on Tuesday.

Owens has stirred controversy following the shooting death of Charlie Kirk on September 10 at a college in Utah, insinuating that his activist group, Turning Point USA, led by Erica, might have some involvement in his death.

Tyler Robinson, 22, from Washington, Utah, has been arrested and charged with aggravated murder, potentially facing the death penalty if found guilty.

Owens has suggested that Robinson acted as part of a larger conspiracy, possibly implicating foreign governments.

“Erica reached out to me a few weeks ago, asking if I’d help set up a sit-down, which they originally thought could be part of my show. I agreed right away,” Kelly explained to her listeners.

“I immediately said, ‘Yes. Of course, I will.'”

Kelly contacted Owens, who was receptive, saying she was glad it was Kelly facilitating the meeting.

“Then they discussed the specifics about timing and location, trying to find a setup that worked for both of them,” Kelly added.

She didn’t go into detail about their conversation, commenting only that they faced “some hurdles.”

Kelly noted that after facing various “roadblocks,” they opted for a private meeting without cameras.

“They decided it was best to meet off-camera, just the two of them, without a livestream,” Kelly remarked, expressing her support for their choice.

The meeting took place in Nashville and lasted for about four and a half hours, as Kelly detailed.

“They sat down in Nashville without any recording devices, just the two of them,” she stated. “Each woman had a supporter, but the conversation was intended to be private.”

Kelly stayed out of the public eye during the arrangements, responding to critics urging her to take sides.

“I’m not obligated to hate the people you hate or to undermine the people you wish to defeat,” Kelly emphasized.

She acknowledged that even though she disagrees with Owens on several issues, their relationship has actually grown stronger amid the surrounding criticism.

“Candace knows we have our differences,” Kelly said, mentioning that their conversations have brought them closer lately.

She expressed deep empathy for Erica Kirk, recognizing the intense scrutiny she faces as a widow.

“She’s in pain,” Kelly observed. “She genuinely wants to honor Charlie’s legacy and uphold the promises from his book.”

Kelly firmly dismissed speculation connecting Turning Point USA to Charlie Kirk’s murder.

“I absolutely do not believe they had any involvement in his murder,” she affirmed.

Her aim, Kelly said, is to de-escalate tensions, believing they are harmful to everyone involved.

“This is not about me; it’s about them,” she reiterated.

Kelly concluded by addressing critics of her silence, dismissing their accusations as misguided.

“Now feel free to do what you wish,” she said, adding a note of confusion about public perceptions of her behind-the-scenes efforts.

“Your online perspective can be so narrow that it forgets the real people in these situations,” she remarked.

Erica Kirk hinted at a productive conversation with Owens and suggested that the ongoing tensions might start to decrease following their meeting.

In a post on social media, Kirk indicated that they’re looking forward to more announcements and events ahead.

“I had a very productive conversation with @RealCandaceO,” she mentioned, noting that there would be more to share soon as they prepare for upcoming activities.

Owens echoed this sentiment, stating that they had a constructive four-and-a-half hour meeting and felt it perhaps should have occurred sooner.
