‘What you see and what you don’t see’: Mel Gibson doesn’t mince words
Recently, news has surfaced about Mel Gibson and his long-term partner Rosalind Ross parting ways, a situation confirmed by various sources. The couple, who had been together for nearly nine years, separated about a year ago but are committed to co-parenting their eight-year-old son, Lars. They expressed their feelings about the split in a statement, saying, “While we are sad to end this chapter of our lives, we are blessed with a beautiful son and will continue to be the best parents we can be.”
Gibson and Ross first met back in 2014, which, interestingly enough, was a time when Ross was just in her early 20s while Gibson was 58. This significant age difference did raise some eyebrows but seemed not to faze the couple. Gibson once remarked, “When it comes to age and relationships, it’s just a number,” indicating a level of comfort with their dynamic. He went on to say, “She’s a really special person. I dig her. So there you go. That’s it. What more can you ask?” It feels genuine, doesn’t it? There’s something relatable about such open appreciation.
The pair welcomed their only child together in 2017, adding to Gibson’s already large family comprising eight other children. It’s funny—he humorously noted, “My ninth child, I have stretch marks,” hinting at the journey of parenthood, which he admits is a learning experience. “It’s a blessing—another life,” he said, reflecting a mixture of excitement and the challenges that come with being a father.
Throughout their time together, Gibson and Ross maintained a rather private relationship, appearing in public together sparingly. Now, with the separation, they both seem focused on ensuring a stable environment for their son, even as they navigate this new chapter in their lives.
