Former first lady Melania Trump announced that her mother, Amalia Knabs, has passed away at the age of 78.

On Tuesday, President Trump announced to Mr. X the death of his beloved mother.
“It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved mother, Amalia,” President Trump said in a statement.
“Amalia Knahus was a strong woman who always conducted herself with grace, warmth and dignity. She was completely devoted to her husband, daughter, grandson and son-in-law. “We will miss her immeasurably, but we will continue to honor and love her,” she continued.
Amalia Knabs' illness was discovered after her daughter was noticeably absent from the Trump family's Christmas photos and New Year's Eve celebrations at their Mar-a-Lago home. During the event, President Donald Trump acknowledged her mother-in-law's condition, acknowledging that she was “critically ill.”
