Melania Trump Attends Inaugural Ball in Hervé Pierre Gown

First Lady Melania Trump wore a custom black and white dress by Hervé Pierre, a longtime fashion pal and French-American couturier who has designed for Balmain, Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta and more. She wore it to the inaugural ball on Monday night.

After the inauguration, Melania Trump appeared in a silk crepe dress wrapped with a custom Hervé Pierre black silk gazar ribbon, wearing an Adam Lipps coat and Eric Javits hat.

Mrs. Trump and Mrs. Pierre wore strapless gowns with chokers made from the same black silk gazar. Features 1955 Harry Winston Diamond Brooch. This piece was borrowed to express the spirit of the design: flowers tied with ribbons.

For her feet, Mrs. Trump chose her favorite suede Manolo Blahniks.

“It was a great honor to help design the first lady's inaugural dress,” Pierre said. “It was clear that Mrs. Trump was drawn to a black and white combination that was true to her own style and vision.”

Fashion Notes avid fans will remember that Pierre designed Mrs. Trump's English dress in 2017. For that design, Pierre similarly chose ivory silk crepe with a red ribbon tied around Mrs. Trump's waist.
