First lady-elect Melania Trump performed her own version of her husband's signature shimmy while belting out the lyrics to “YMCA” that will ring out in 2025.
A video circulating online shows first lady Melania Trump slowly swaying to the hit song “Village People” and reciting the lyrics next to President-elect Donald Trump. The president performed his signature trick to the delight of his fans.
Unlike her husband's air punches and hip swings, Melania's was much more toned down.
She smiled and swayed to the music, closing her eyes and singing the chorus.
Fans of the first couple went wild for the “wholesome” moment captured at their New Year's Eve celebrations at their Palm Beach, Florida, mansion on Tuesday night.
“As I knew, Melania Trump is a big YMCA fan just like her husband,” one supporter said online.
“New Trump dance unlocked! Synchronized YMCA! Melania is into it too,” another joked.
“Melania dances with Trump elegantly too,” a third noted, while others were stunned by the “beautiful” first lady's “grace” and “poise” amidst the swaying crowd.
Melania's move garnered critical acclaim, but her version is unlikely to replace the original.
Trump began making symbolic moves toward the YMCA at campaign rallies earlier this year, spurring a wave of imitators in media coverage and social media, including from his granddaughter Kai.
Its humorous simplicity has made it popular among his supporters and has been imitated by athletes in college football, the NFL, boxing, and the UFC.
Apart from first lady Melania Trump, billionaire Elon Musk was also spotted dancing at Tuesday's gala.
