Former first lady Melania Trump slammed the FBI's 2022 raid of Mar-a-Lago in a video. Posts On social media Saturday morning, he warned that Americans' rights and freedoms “must be respected.”
The video, promoting his upcoming memoir, features a musical introduction to the text of the Fourth Amendment to the US Constitution before showing footage from the Trumps' Florida mansion and blasting the federal raid.
“I never imagined that my privacy would be violated by the US government,” she said in the video. “The FBI searched my home in Florida and searched my belongings. This is not just my story, it's a warning to all Americans that our freedoms and rights must be respected.”
Melania Trump's video ended with an image from her book, “Melania,” which is due for release on October 1.
Former President Trump criticized the FBI's raid on Mar-a-Lago as “politically motivated.” Agents seized more than 100 classified documents and papers. Trump faced 40 charges of mishandling classified records and attempting to obstruct the government's return. U.S. District Judge Eileen Cannon dismissed the case in July, finding that special counsel Jack Smith was not lawfully appointed. Smith quickly appealed the decision.
The former president said in late 2022 that First Lady Melania Trump felt “very violated” after the FBI searched his home.
“She felt so violated, it was so horrible,” he said. “They went into her closet and looked through her dresses and everything, and it wasn't just left there, that's what they found.”
