Melania Trump Denies Connection to Jeffrey Epstein
First Lady Melania Trump addressed the media on Thursday at the White House, firmly rejecting connections drawn between her and Jeffrey Epstein. In a brief statement, she criticized those insinuating any link as “lacking ethical standards.” Her remarks were brief, lasting about three minutes, and there were no questions from the press.
“The lies linking me to the disgraced Jeffrey Epstein need to end today,” Melania stated. “I do not object to their ignorance, but rather to reject their spiteful attempts to defame me.”
Prior to her appearance, a White House official indicated that the event would serve as a statement rather than a formal announcement.
A Look Back at Melania’s Connections
During her address, Melania elaborated on her past interactions with Epstein and her husband, President Donald Trump. “I have never been friends with Epstein. Donald and I occasionally found ourselves at the same events as Epstein, as social circles in New York City and Palm Beach often overlap,” she explained.
President Trump, in comments to the media, echoed similar sentiments, claiming he had “no knowledge” of any connections between Melania and Epstein before the controversy arose.
The First Lady expressed gratitude towards individuals, including Democratic strategist James Carville and The Daily Beast, who have publicly apologized for linking her to Epstein in past articles.
Setting the Record Straight
“To date, several individuals and companies have been legally obligated to publicly apologize and retract falsehoods about me,” Melania noted. “These slanders, fueled by spite and political motivations, must cease. My legal team and I will continue to fight against these baseless claims.”
Last year, The Daily Beast retracted a report alleging Melania’s deep involvement with Epstein, admitting that it did not meet their publication standards.
Clarifying her timeline, Melania mentioned meeting Epstein in 2000, which was two years after she first met Donald Trump.
Call for Survivor-Centered Hearings
Additionally, she cautioned the public about misleading representations on social media regarding her relationship with Epstein. “Many false images and statements have circulated on social media for years. Be careful what you believe,” she advised.
In her closing remarks, Melania urged Congress to hold hearings focused on survivors of Epstein’s actions, saying, “Every woman affected should have the chance to share her story publicly and have it recorded in the Congressional record.”
Mark Beckman, a senior adviser to President Trump, emphasized the need for the public to recognize Melania’s contributions as First Lady, highlighting the positive impacts she has made.
Melania Trump’s office did not immediately respond to requests for further comments.
