Melania Trump Raises Concerns Over AI Deepfakes
Recently, Melania Trump, the First Lady of the United States, expressed her concerns about the potential threats posed by AI deepfakes. Interestingly, she’s simultaneously releasing audiobooks narrated by a voice generated through artificial intelligence.
In a Thursday social media update, the wife of President Donald Trump shared that she has launched a seven-hour audiobook, priced at $25.
Titled “My Story, My Point of View, Truth,” the recording features her unique accent in a brief black-and-white video showcasing computer-generated images of her face.
It’s unclear whether the voice in the video is truly hers or a digital replica; she hasn’t disclosed that detail.
In her post, she also mentioned, “Let’s start the future of publishing.”
The audiobook’s website claims that the “AI-generated Replica” of her voice was “created under the direction and supervision of Mrs. Trump.”
Additionally, she noted that there will be “multiple” foreign language editions available later this year.
Back in October, Melania Trump celebrated the release of the physical edition of her memoir, which garnered significant attention. A signed collector’s edition is available, printed on premium art paper and priced at $150.
The audiobooks, narrated by AI, debuted shortly after she and President Trump signed legislation addressing “revenge porn.”
Earlier this year, Melania launched the “Take It Down Act” initiative during her first solo event since her husband’s inauguration, highlighting concerns about harmful online content like deepfakes.
Despite her relatively low profile at the White House, she has engaged in several projects that emphasize her public persona.
In addition to the AI audiobook, she’s also working on a documentary series for Amazon under a lucrative contract worth millions.
