Melania Trump: Mar-a-lago raid an 'invasion of privacy'

Former First Lady Melania Trump called the search of her Mar-a-Lago estate in connection with the investigation into former President Trump's handling of classified documents an “invasion of privacy.”

“Yes, I was upset. Yes, it was an invasion of privacy. And I was really surprised at the way it was done,” Trump told Fox & Friends in an exclusive interview given this week.

Fox host Ainsley Earhardt asked the former first lady, “What was it like when you returned to your home after it had been searched?”

“I saw some disgusting things that nobody wants to see,” she replied, “and I'm angry because nobody should have to go through that. Someone saw my stuff, who doesn't even know who I am or how many people I have.”

The classified documents lawsuit was dismissed earlier this year when U.S. Judge Eileen Cannon ruled that special counsel Jack Smith had not been lawfully appointed, a move seen as a major victory for the former president and the first time that one of his four criminal cases had been dismissed in its entirety.

Earhart also asked Trump about the two assassination attempts her husband, who is seeking a second term in the White House this year, faced — one at a rally in Pennsylvania where a bullet grazed his ear, and another at his golf club in Florida.

“The members of his team were fantastic,” she said, praising the Secret Service's response to both incidents, “and I think both were really miracles when you really think about it.”

“July 13th, it was a miracle,” she added, “and he, you know, couldn't be with us.”

Trump's interview with Fox this week was a rare media appearance, but she has made few public appearances while her husband is campaigning for the presidential election this fall as she promotes his new book.
