Melania Trump Expands ‘Fostering the Future’ Initiative
During a speech at the United Nations Assembly in New York, First Lady Melania Trump announced plans to expand her “Fostering the Future” initiative, marking the occasion with new partnerships involving seven prominent tech companies.
“Fostering the future together now unites nearly 60 nations,” Mrs. Trump stated, addressing a diverse audience of representatives from countries such as Panama, Korea, Kenya, Albania, Estonia, the Dominican Republic, and Guatemala.
She underscored that despite various cultural and historical backgrounds, all participating countries share the responsibility of preparing children for their futures.
“Fostering the future together is more than a coalition. It’s a commitment to empower children through technology and education, ensuring that every child, regardless of where they are born, has the chance to imagine, learn, create, and thrive,” she told attendees. “When nations speak with one voice, the world listens. Our collective influence is profound.”
Further emphasizing the importance of their mission, she reflected on the lasting impact of their leadership:
“Our success will not just be measured by what we accomplish now but by what endures after we are gone. Did we strengthen our schools? Did we inspire innovation? Will the next generation be equipped to advance their careers and communities using the groundwork we laid?” she asked, urging everyone to join her in this leadership journey.
Mrs. Trump also conveyed her gratitude to the tech companies—Adobe, Amazon, Google, Intel, N50, Starlink, and Zoom—for forming partnerships with over 15 countries, aiming to elevate education and technology access for children worldwide.
However, she cautioned that providing access to technology, while essential, isn’t enough on its own. Better education and training are crucial to ensure children can succeed.
She announced upcoming events tied to her initiative, including:
- First Lady of the Philippines, Lisa Araneta Marcos, will host an event at the Asian conference in Manila;
- Polish civil servant, Marta Nawrocka, plans a European regional event in the winter;
- First Lady Diani Prince of St. Kitts and Nevis will organize a Caribbean conference by the year’s end.
In December, Melania will also host the initiative’s inaugural G20 meeting in Miami.
“Years from now, our children might not remember our meetings or speeches, but they will live with the outcomes of our choices,” she concluded. “Let history show that, at this extraordinary moment, leaders from around the world united through Fostering the Future Together and prioritized children.”
