Colorado Set to Send Socialist to Congress After Chaotic Democratic Primary

After winning the Colorado primary for the 1st Congressional District, Melat Quiroz has sparked concern among conservatives and social media users, particularly regarding her views on the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The Outnumbered committee, led by Kayleigh McEnany, has raised alarms about candidates like Quiroz, drawing comparisons to former President Ronald Reagan’s warnings against socialism and communism.

“This is light years worse than AOC defeating 10-term incumbent Joe Crowley,” commented Republican strategist Steve Guest, referring to the rise of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez within the Democratic Party. He added, “This is the Democratic Party.”

Quiroz has suggested that the U.S. might bear some responsibility for the 2001 attacks that resulted in around 3,000 American deaths. This, alongside her other remarks that appear to justify violence, has led to significant backlash as she prepares to enter the U.S. House of Representatives and further empower the far-left faction of the Democratic Party.

In a resurfaced video, she implied America might have deserved the 9/11 attacks due to its foreign policies. When questioned about whether the attacks were avoidable, she expressed a belief that they could not have been avoided, citing a history of destabilization in the Middle East as a contributing factor.

The Republican National Committee did not hold back, labeling her sentiments as “sick.” Conservative media figure Benny Johnson pointed out that Quiroz’s Ethiopian background adds another layer to her perceived radicalism, claiming her views could signify a trend toward a more extreme stance within the Democratic Party. He noted, “It’s not just happening in New York; the Democratic Party is losing its entire party.”

Congressman Mike Lawler expressed similar frustrations, questioning why anyone would give power to someone who believes America was culpable for 9/11.

Melat Quiroz’s Controversial Victory

Quiroz stands out among candidates through her stances on various progressive issues. Her platform aligns closely with radical progressive ideals, including Medicare for All, ending all wars, and dismantling Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). In her own words, Quiroz remarked, “As someone who works as a barista to pay for school and health care, I know what it’s like to work hard to move forward when Washington is so far behind.”

However, her views regarding the relationship between the U.S. and Israel set her apart further. Quiroz, previously fired from her law firm for her controversial opinions, has defended anti-Israel protests, refraining from calling them anti-Semitic. She characterized a recent attack on Israel as an “inevitable outcome of apartheid,” sparking more outrage among critics.

Clay Travis, a conservative commentator, expressed concerns that Quiroz’s victory could empower more far-left candidates across the country. “This is the equivalent of four sitting MPs losing primaries to socialists in one week,” he noted, suggesting a descent into more extreme ideologies within the party.

Quiroz is set to face Republican Kristy Peterson, an accountant, in the general election on November 3.
