Members of Pistons, Suns get into altercation in tunnels of arena before game: report

Isaiah Stewart and Drew Eubanks did not wait for physicals Wednesday night.

Stewart’s Detroit Pistons were in Phoenix to take on Eubanks and the Suns, but the two sides apparently got into an argument well before the game started at 7 p.m. (Montana time).

According to a reporter for The Athletic, Stewart punched Eubanks at some point Wednesday in the “back tunnel” of the Footprint Center.

The Athletic Stewart and Eubanks were “chest-to-chest, which resulted in a swing to Eubanks’ face.”

Police are reportedly involved in the situation, and the NBA will receive video footage of the altercation for review.

Wednesday will be the second and final meeting between the two teams. The Suns won 120-106 in the first matchup on November 5th in Detroit.

The Pistons hold the NBA’s worst record at 8-45, including an NBA record 28-game losing streak.

The Pistons did not win a game from October 29th to December 29th, but they finally ended their losing streak against the Toronto Raptors just before the year’s end.

The previous record was 26 consecutive losses, which was set from 2013 to 2014. philadelphia 76ers and the 2011-2012 Cleveland Cavaliers. The Sixers also suffered a 28-game losing streak at one point, but that streak started at the end of the 2014-2015 season and continued into the following season. The Pistons became the only team to lose so many consecutive games in a single season.

Led by Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, Phoenix holds the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference with a 32-22 record.

Ironically, Pistons head coach Monty Williams, in his first season with the team after signing a record-breaking contract, lost his team to eventual champion Denver in the Western Conference semifinals last May. He was released by the Suns after the loss to the Nuggets.
