Budget Director’s Controversial Testimony on Foreign Aid

On June 25, after the House approved a significant $9.4 billion bailout package, White House Budget Director Russell Vought appeared before the Senate Approvals Committee. His main points were not just about the funding but also aimed at addressing what he characterized as misleading practices in foreign aid.

Vought was refreshingly candid, discussing how American taxpayer funds are used overseas. He pointed out that many programs have names that obscure their real purpose, making it difficult for the public to see the actual activities being funded.

Pat Gray, host of “Pat Gray Unleashed,” expressed his admiration for Vought’s honesty and shared a clip of his forthright comments.

“It’s crucial for this institution and the American people to recognize that numerous foreign aid programs have benevolent-sounding titles hiding truly disturbing activities that don’t align with American interests,” he stated. He went on to cite examples.

For instance, he mentioned the Pepfar program, which included funding for LGBTQ advocacy in Uganda and transgender initiatives in Nepal. He talked about a staggering $3.6 million earmarked for training programs for Haitian male sex workers, supposedly directed at LGBTQ activism, along with money for gender transformation initiatives through diverse social and behavioral change reports.

“I think most Americans would be stunned to realize that their taxes—money they believed was going to healthcare—are instead being funneled into these left-leaning agendas,” he reassured listeners, claiming that essential healthcare would not be compromised by this rescue package.

Still, he refrained from outlining the humanitarian programs that received American money.

“And there are other examples of almost laughably ineffective spending,” he continued. “For example, crisis funding sent for voter IDs in Haiti, development assistance for electric buses in Rwanda, and cricket powder in Madagascar.” He noted that funds meant for global health were sent to initiatives that included social media mentorships in Serbia and Belarus, as well as wind farms in Ukraine.

“Americans didn’t fund this knowingly. They voted for change. President Trump is committed to prioritizing American taxpayers,” he concluded.

“Wow, that’s impressive,” Pat interjected.
