Meta has suspended multiple accounts that were monitoring the private jet flights of top celebrities and tech moguls, including Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Kim Kardashian, and Elon Musk.
Jack Sweeney, the Florida-based college student who was fired by Mr. Musk for managing an account that tracked the billionaire's private jet flights, said Mr. The company also announced that it has suspended the use of tracking accounts.
“Jet tracking and threads on Instagram have been disrupted,” Sweeney wrote in a message posted to his social media accounts.
“Today I feel a sense of déjà vu. I remember all my accounts being suspended on Twitter,” Sweeney wrote.
Sweeney said the account was “blacked out” without warning from Meta.
“As the day progressed, my other tracking accounts, Celeb Jet, Kim K Jet, Kylie Jenner Jet, Bezo Jet, and Zuckerberg Jet, were all suspended,” he wrote.
Sweeney said similar flight-tracking accounts dedicated to former President Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis were allowed to continue, but another publication highlights that these were the only accounts that were active. After writing the article, he claimed he was eventually suspended. .
“The actions have been consistent. It feels like these platforms operate without transparency and make arbitrary decisions,” Sweeney wrote.
Sweeney said his Taylor Swift-specific jet tracking site was removed from Instagram 10 months ago. However, the service allowed his other monitoring accounts to remain up and running.
Mr. Sweeney accused Mr. Mehta of “presenting a clear case of selective enforcement.''

“Given the risk of physical harm to individuals and following the recommendations of an independent oversight committee, we have disabled these accounts that violated our privacy policy,” a Meta spokesperson said. A statement was emailed to TechCrunch.
Last December, pop superstar singer Swift's lawyer threatened legal action against Sweeney. They sent a cease-and-desist letter stating that if Swift does not stop the “stalking and harassing behavior,” they “will have no choice but to pursue all legal remedies.”
In February, Swift sold one of her private jets after news of her lawyer's letter to Sweeney surfaced.
President Biden signed a bill in May that allows private jet owners to anonymize their registration information, making it harder to track their flights.
