Meta Platforms announced Friday in a memo to employees posted on an internal forum that it is ending its diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) program, which includes supplier recruitment, training and selection.
The move comes ahead of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration as the company seeks to mend relations with the leader, who criticized the company's political content policy and threatened to jail its CEO. .
“The legal and policy landscape surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the United States is changing,” Janelle Gale, Meta's vice president of human resources, said in a memo seen by Reuters. said.
Gale said recent Supreme Court decisions “suggest a shift” in how U.S. courts approach DEI programs going forward.
