Griffin Canning is the newest addition to the Mets' starting rotation, the Post has confirmed.
The Mets reached agreement on a $4.25 million contract with the 28-year-old right-hander on Wednesday, pending a physical.
Canning was non-tendered by Atlanta earlier in the offseason after being acquired from the Angels in a trade for Jorge Soler.
He was eligible for arbitration before being released by the Braves.
A second-round pick of the Angels in 2017, he hasn't had much success in the majors, but is coming off a season in which he started a career-high 31 games and pitched 171 sq/₃ innings.
However, Canning still posted a 5.19 ERA and 99 earned runs, the highest in the American League.
He will join a Mets rotation in need of weapons.

Top-ranked Kodai Chiga only started one game in the regular season due to injury, with Tyler Megill, David Peterson and Paul Blackburn returning.
With Luis Severino now with the Athletics and Sean Manaea still a free agent, the Mets signed Frankie Montas and also added former Yankees reliever Clay Holmes to the mix as he looks to transition into a starter. .
Now they'll be adding Canning, who returned to start 22 games for the Angels in 2023 after missing all of 2022 with a hip injury and pitched a full season last year.
The deal was first reported by The Athletic.
