Mets' Bo Bichette discusses the crowd's boos

Bo Bichette recently signed a three-year, $126 million contract with the New York Mets, aiming to help the team get back to the World Series. However, his start this season hasn’t been the best.

In the opening series against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Bichette went just 1-for-14, which included a single hit and an RBI. To add to his struggles, he ended the series leading the National League with eight strikeouts in just three games. Yet, the Mets managed to win two out of three games against Pittsburgh, which is a small positive.

Unfortunately, during a game at Citi Field, Bichette faced a chorus of boos from the crowd. Reflecting on his performance, he mentioned, “If anything, I thought it would take too long. I thought my at-bat was also terrible.”

This season, Bichette is adjusting to a new position, having switched from his usual role as a shortstop or designated hitter during his seven years with the Toronto Blue Jays to playing third base for the Mets due to Francisco Lindor occupying shortstop.

So far, he has recorded four outs at third and only one error. He acknowledged the need to rediscover his game as he adapts to his new team.

Looking ahead, the Mets are set to embark on a seven-game road trip, with games scheduled against the St. Louis Cardinals and the San Francisco Giants. Interestingly, Bichette has had a decent batting average at Busch Stadium in the past, but he hasn’t had much luck at Oracle Park, going hitless in his two games there.
